Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It’s a buzzword in the world of internet marketing. If you’re a blogger, like me, then you probably already know how important it is for your website to be optimized for search engines.

As a blogger, AND as a marketer, you need to make sure that you’re driving traffic to your website, catching eyes, and ranking on page 1’s.

But this is a lot easier said than done. Especially if you don’t have piles of money to spend on advertising right from the beginning. So one of the most important investments you’ll make at the start of your business, in blogging or any other marketing campaign, is in your keyword research tool.

So what is the best keyword tool for bloggers?

First Off: Google Is The Queen Bee. Love It. Hate It. But You Better Understand It.

If you want to make money through your blog, then you need those search engines to like you.

And it’s hard to deny that Google is the apex predator in this scenario. Recent statistics indicate that solidly 74%-75% of all search engine traffic goes through Google. It’s the popular queen bee.

Whether Google is a nice queen, or an evil queen, is a matter of opinion. But if you want your website to succeed, you’re going to need to know how to match it to Google’s agenda, and what Google wants.

The keyword research tools you use will need to have effective readings of Google’s keywords, what’s being searched a lot, and how much competition your keywords will get.

Don’t Undervalue Bing and Yahoo

Don’t make the mistake of ignoring Bing and Yahoo. So they’re not as big as Google. So what? Remember, there are 3.75 billion people using the internet on this planet.

And yes, Bing still gets about 122.8 million searches a day. That’s a lot of potential customers.

Not only will you miss out on a ton of this traffic if you aren’t submitting your websites to Bing and Yahoo, or making sure you’re also optimizing your sites for them, but the QUALITY of traffic through Bing and Yahoo actually tends to be better than the traffic through Google.

If you’re promoting regular consumer goods through your affiliate marketing blog, then Google will get you plenty of conversions. But for bloggers promoting more advanced (and more expensive) products, Bing and Yahoo traffic tends to be higher converting, because it has a high volume of business professional traffic.

So What Keyword Tools Are The Best For Blogs?

Recommendation #1: Jaaxy

For: Beginner and mid-level marketing businesses

Rating: ★★★★★

Cost: Free starter. Lite Plan free for Wealthy Affiliate members. $19/month professional plan. $49/month scaling enterprise plan.

I started my own blog with the help of an excellent company called Wealthy Affiliate. I learned most of what I know about internet marketing through Wealthy Affiliate, it’s community, and its courses. It also helped me build my own site, and launch it cheaply.

The founders of Wealthy Affiliate, Kyle and Carson, have also created one of the highest quality keyword search tools available. It’s saved me hundreds of hours of tedious research, that I can now do with a few clicks of the button through Jaaxy.

Below is a screenshot of my own Jaaxy tool in use:

So here’s how this chart works. Say you have a cooking blog, and you’re thinking about writing an affiliate review on the latest trend of air fryers. I searched the topic of air fryers to check out which keywords were best.

As you can see, Jaaxy gave me the statistics on 6 categories.

  • The average amount of searches for a specific keyword every month
  • The average number of visitors your page would get with a 1st page ranking
  • The QSR, or the number of competing pages with the exact same keyword
  • KQI, or a ranking prescribed by Jaaxy to how well search engines will like the keyword
  • SEO estimate of how likely it is that you will rank under a certain set of keywords
  • A tracker to find what domain names are available with that exact keyword

This is why this is helpful. “Best Air Fryers On The Market” sounded to me like a great keyword. And while it’s not bad, there are 94 competing blogs or websites with the exact same keywords that I have to beat to get to page 1!

On the other hand, I can see now that “Best Air Fryer On Amazon” only has 3 competing websites for the keyword. This means that the 72 people searching for the best air fryer available on amazon will only have 3 other websites that actually fit their exact search.

Jaaxy also has a tool that I can use to test where my site ranks for every keyword!

As you can see, my post about a free tax help app under the keyword “What Is Stride Tax” hasn’t ranked in Google or Bing yet. But Jaaxy found that my post HAS ranked at place number 7 in Yahoo. On page 1.

I now know that this keyword, topic, and particular post are good to focus on in Yahoo.

So what does it cost? As an internet marketer, a keyword tool is an important investment, but you want to make sure you get the best value for the lowest costs you can. Jaaxy can be broken into 4 different plans.

The starter membership is sort of like a free trial without a time limit. It comes at no cost, but you’re limited to 30 keyword searches, 20 search results (which basically takes any combination of keywords and analyzes the search results for you), competition assessment, 30 scans to analyze your site rank, and data on affiliate programs that fit any topic or keyword.

The Pro plan is a subscription that costs $19/month. This allows you to search many more keywords to your heart’s content, as well as allowing multi-threaded search to find the best combinations of keywords, 2,000 SiteRank analysis scans, an option called alphabet soup which can help you find the most popular products under every letter and category, and maintains unlimited search history so you can always go back and find the best keywords you had found.

The Enterprise plan is not a plan that I use, or have needed. It essentially gives you all the perks of the smaller plan but to an unlimited degree. 5x the amount of multi-threaded search. 10,000 site rank scans. SEO analysis of your website, keywords, and search rankings. etc.

The 4th plan is called Jaaxy Lite, and you get it automatically if you are a member of Wealthy Affiliate. This is my most recommended option. Wealthy Affiliate costs $359 as a yearly plan. Or $49/month, which is not terrible, but slightly more expensive. I find Jaaxy Lite to be the most effective plan, because not only do I get the powerful keyword tool, but I also get high-speed, managed WordPress hosting for my website, Site Support that fixes any technical problem I ever have with my site, and a plethora of other tools to help me develop SEO friendly blogs.

In other words, as a yearly plan, you only pay about $30/month, for your website hosting, site support, AND a solid keyword tool.

Invest In Your Success

Your keyword tool is going to be one of your most important tools as you grow your blog. Like your website hosting, and your branding, as an affiliate marketer and business owner your keyword quality will make or break your chance of success.

In your first several years of business, Jaaxy is the best keyword tool you can use to maximize your keyword success. I have looked into many different options, and for bloggers this is truly among the best.

I’m interested to hear from my fellow bloggers and marketers! What are some of your best keyword strategies?

  1. Love your suggestions! Google is awesome and should always be the first choice. I’d also like to mention Ubersuggest which is a free tool but not as detailed as other tools. Ahrefs is awesome as well and it is one of the main tools that I use for keyword research.

    1. Thanks for the tips! I will definitely need to look into these options some more. Ahrefs seems very expensive, but also reputable. And the fact that Ubersuggest is free is really impressive! I’m a little unsure of how to read the data, but I will need to look into it some more. Good ideas!
